Practice Groups 2025-26

IGNITE

The goal of Ignite is to help all swimmers progress to Age Group or Junior level in one year or less. Ignite is not a destination group, but for swimmers who want to improve and move forward. The Ignite group will have three practices per week. Basic swimming fundamentals will be paramount, and more conditioning will be introduced as the skills develop. Meets are optional with this group, but each swimmer is eligible for YMCA dual or tri meets and USA Swimming meets. Two practices will be at Burlington County Special Services Pool in Westampton and one at the Mt. Laurel Y.

MINI

Mini is for swimmers 8 & Under who can swim one lap each of freestyle and backstroke and have a working knowledge of Breaststroke and Butterfly. Time spent in this group will be in teaching basic stroke, turn, and start fundamentals. Swimmers in this group will swim in YMCA Dual Meets, Mini, and Developmental USA Swimming meets. They may qualify for YMCA Mini States and or Middle Atlantic 10 & Under Championships with their times. Minis will have 3 practices per week at the Mount Laurel Y.

AGE GROUP

Age Group is for swimmers 12 & Under and is dependent on their skill and ability level. This group is technically focused and includes the introduction of physical conditioning. Swimmers in this group will swim in YMCA Dual Meets and with their times they may qualify for YMCA Bronze, Silver, or the YMCA 12 & Under State Championships. They will also have the opportunity to swim in USA Swimming meets. 10 & Under swimmers can compete in USA Delvelopmental Meets. All swimmers in this group may qualify for USA Swimming Invitationals or Championship meets such as Junior Olympics or Silver Champs. Age Group will have four practices per week at the Mount Laurel Y.

JUNIOR

Junior is for middle school swimmers ages 11-14. The group will focus on technique with a proper balance of physical conditioning and mental skills. The group will focus on YMCA dual meets, the Bronze, Silver and State meets for the New Jersey YMCA and will also have opportunities to swim USA swimming meets including Junior Olympics and Zones. The Junior Group will have five practices per week at the Mount Laurel Y.

SENIOR

Senior is for High School aged swimmers. Practices will be held exclusively at the Mount Laurel YMCA. Training is designed to challenge each swimmer physically and mentally to be the best they want. Senior is encouraged to swim in YMCA meets, including the Bronze, Silver, and State meets and USA Swimming Meets. This group is also designed to support those swimmers that aspire to qualify for Olympic Trials, USA Senior and Junior Nationals, YMCA Nationals, and Middle Atlantic Senior Championships. The Junior Group will have six practices per week at the Mount Laurel Y.
